Held in the year 3018 of the [[Third Age]] at the house of [[Elrond]], this meeting was called to decide the fate of [[The One Ring]]. It was attended by representatives of the Free Peoples, including [[Gandalf]] the Grey, [[Aragorn]], [[Boromir]], [[Legolas]], and [[Gimli]]. Despite the ancient grievances between Elves, Dwarves, and Men, the council reached a unanimous decision: the Ring could not be hidden or used, but must be destroyed in the fires of [[Mount Doom]]. This event marked the formal creation of [[The Fellowship of the Ring]] and is considered one of the most pivotal moments in the war against [[Sauron]].
